Moreton Bay College Gymnastics was established in 1995 to allow students in the college, both secondary and primary, to further their experiences in gymnastics.

The Moreton Bay College Gymnastics Program offers complete and comprehensive recreational and competitive programs in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, Mens Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics and Cheersport.

Facilities at the college include a permanent Artistic Gymnastics training facility with inground landing pits and all apparatus needed for a Women’s Artistic Gymnastics [WAG] program.  A second gymnasium caters for Rhythmic Gymnastics [RG] and an Aerobics room facilitates sports aerobics [SA] and ballet.  A third dedicated Recreational area caters for Mens Artistic Gymnastics [MAG].

 

 

OUR MISSION

To encourage and assist all Moreton Bay College gymnasts, members and associates to achieve their maximum potential and personal goals in the Sport of Gymnastics, by means of excellence in;

1.       Provision of Quality Gymnastics Programs for all gymnasts, based on a sound educational foundation.

2.       Production of Competitive gymnasts with excellence in Artistic, Rhythmic Gymnastics and Cheersport.

3.       The progressive growth and development of the MBC Gymnastics as a leading Queensland gymnastic program, and Centre of Excellence for Gymnastics.

4.       Provision for our members of a learning environment and program activities that are challenging, rewarding and enjoyable.

 

 

Fee Payments & Policy

Ø       Costs of classes is dependent upon the number of hours trained.  Please refer to the Fee Schedule.  One hour per week starts at approximately $8.50 per class with hourly rates decreasing as the training time increases.

Ø       Full fees are payable at the beginning of each term and are due within 4 weeks of Fee Statements.  If fees are not paid within this period, your child may not be permitted in class until the account is settled.

Ø       Please pay your fees at MBC Gymnastic Office or in the locked box in either the Waller Centre or Leita Boswell Hall.  Please make money orders or cheques payable to Moreton Bay College.  PLEASE NOTE:  Staff are NOT permitted to take cash at anytime.

Ø       Please note, fees are payable in FULL with the ONLY exception being for students who miss more then 2 weeks of classes consecutively due to Medical illness or injury.

Ø       Refunds or Alterations to Fee Payments – may be discussed with the Head of Gymnastics and will be at the discretion of the Head  of Gymnastics Mr. Peter Dowdell 0414 517 385.

Ø       Additional Annual Fees

·         MBC Membership $50 (paid once only annually)

·         Registration with Gymnastic Queensland - $30, paid annually by Competitive Team Members (WAG/RG/Cheersports) and non-MBC Students (for Insurance purposes).

·         Competition Entry fees and Grading Day fees where applicable; please note Queensland Gymnastics Competition Entry fees are to be collected by your Head Coach with cheques payable to the MBC Gymnastic Support Group.

Ø       All additional expenses (choreography / massage) are the responsibility of parents / gymnasts.

Ø       A Registration Form must be completed for all students each year of Gymnastic Membership; and left in the locked boxes (Waller Centre or Leita Boswell Hall) or handed to your supervising coach.

 

 

Parent Viewing Day

Ø       Parents are welcome to view their children at training for one session in the last week of each month.

 

 

Competition and Grading

Ø       Artistic, Rhythmic and Cheersport Team Gymnasts please refer to Calendar and Competition Schedule

Ø       Level 1 to 3 classes will participate in ongoing class evaluation via their achievement book as well as a grading day on the last Saturday of each term.  Nominated L1-3 Gymnasts (WAG, MAG & RG) will be eligible to compete for MBC at Invitational Events and the annual GQ L1-3 Championships.

 

 

Uniform

Ø       When in the gymnasium it is essential that suitable clothing be worn for both comfort and safety.  Leotards and/or bike pants are required for training.  Hair must be tidy and presentable at all times with long hair tied back.  Footwear must be worn to and from the gymnasium, with bare feet or gymnastic shoes required whilst on the apparatus or floor exercise matting.

Ø       All MBC Cheersports students will require a MBC Cheersports Uniform for performance and competition. This may be purchased at Sylvia P Sportswear - (phone: 3390 2902/ 3390 2813 or Fax: 3390 3673 / e-mail: sportswear@sylviap.com.au).

Ø       You may purchase the training or competition leotard and all competition attire (tracksuit and polo shirt) at the College Uniform Shop (open - Mon/Tues/Wed - 7:30am – 4:00pm / Thur 7:30am -2:00pm & Friday 7:30 - 10:00am / phone: 3249 9397).

 

 

After School Policy

Ø       All Primary MBC Students participating in a Gymnastic Class that does not begin directly after School finishes can attend After School Care prior to attending their Gymnastic Class.

Ø       All Senior MBC Students participating in a Gymnastic Class that does not begin directly after School finishes must report to the Library to commence their study/homework prior to attending Gymnastic Class.

Ø       All Team Artistic Gymnasts (Level 4-10 and International) Primary Students may assemble at the Waller Centre Classroom, prior to commencing Gymnastic Training.

 

 

Communication Guidelines for Parents

Ø       MBC Gymnastics will be a place where our clients (the Parents) are totally informed regarding the program for, and development of their child.  Both transperancy of communication and confidentiality will be respected at all times.  Parents are encouraged to speak with their child’s coach regarding their progress at anytime during the year.  For safety reasons coaches are NEVER to be approached whilst involved in their coaching duties; please make an appointment to speak with your child’s coach before or after class training.  For all Policy, technical and training issues please direct your enquires to Peter Dowdell (Head of Gymnastics) on 0414 517 385 or Kirsten Cole 0412 773 578 (Level 1-3 WAG Coordinator), or Jaana Haaja (Head coach RG) 3390 6387 / 0401876878, or Mrs Lyn Parker (cheersport co-ordinator) 0409378387or Mrs. Liz Lyons (SA Co-ordinator) 3390 8555.

 

 

Class Finish and Children Pickup

Ø       All gymnasts are required to wait inside the Gymnastic Hall of the Waller Sports Centre (including F1/F2) or Leita Boswell Hall until their Parent(s) physically enter the building to pick up their child at the conclusion of their class.  All gymnasts are to remain in the direct supervision of the coaching staff until their parents arrive.
