Stage 2).
The support group
is a subsidiary group of the P&F and as such is subject to all college
policies and the P&F constitution.
The President of the GSG is also an executive member of the P&F
(they meet monthly – all parents welcome).
When
do the GSG meet?
The GSG meet
monthly and all parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. The meetings are usually held on the 3rd
Saturday of the month at 11am in the F3 classroom outside the gymnastics hall
(Waller Centre). The dates of all
meetings have been posted on the MBC Gymnastics website and reminder notices
are posted in the school newsletter and on the notice board in both training
halls -(http://www.mbcgymnastics.com/index.htm
).
What
is discussed at the meetings?
Issues that
affect all families are often discussed at these meetings (such as travel to
any major competitions, donations towards trips away, purchase of equipment,
allocation of funds as guided by requests from the head of gymnastics
etc). These meetings are a good way of
keeping informed and are an avenue for parents to suggest ways to improve
general gymnastics facilities.
What
happens to the money raised?
Over the last
three and half years the GSG has raised over $65,000. This is outstanding and wouldn’t have been possible without the
dedicated efforts of the parent and gymnast body volunteering their support.
These funds have been used to provide much of the excellent
facilities
currently enjoyed by all gymnasts at MBC.
The GSG has also donated funds for travel to competitions which
ultimately reduces the amount each parent is required to pay, and supports the
gymnasts in other ways (such as QGSSSA gymnastics events).
Funds raised do
not contribute to the general running of the gymnastics program. Funds are only committed through committee
approval using MBC guidelines.
What
have we done so far this year?
So far the GSG
has hosted Senior Southern Regional Championships in March which generated just
under $5000. This profit and an
additional $1500 contributed to the purchase of the brand new WAG competition
floor – a significant purchase which will enable MBC to continue to host major
events.
The GSG also
convened two stalls at open day on the 14th May which generated
approximately $1700, which will go towards further equipment purchases.
What’s
next for the GSG?
The GSG has
committed to hosting four more events this year and will require your support
to ensure they are a success. We would
also ask that you keep the following dates aside if you are able to assist in
any way. Please note that as part of
MBC Gymnastics strategic direction, there will be some significant cheersport
